Theater Location

The Walter Reade Theater is located on the north side of West 65th Street, between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue, one flight up on the plaza level. Look for our banner on 65th Street near Amsterdam Avenue to locate the stairs, escalator and elevator to the plaza level.

Please Note: There is construction work happening around Alice Tully Hall. Access to the plaza level at Broadway & 65th Street has been closed off.

Subway: Red Line Number 1 to the 66th Street stop. Bus Lines M104, M5, and M7 all stop in front of Lincoln Center. Garage parking is available on 65th Street under Lincoln Center.

Recording Prohibited
Federal and New York State law prohibit the unauthorized use of any recording or transmission devices in this theater. Violators are subject to criminal prosecution and civil liability, and devices are subject to confiscation and forfeiture. Lincoln Center and its Constituents will report any violations to the appropriate law enforcement officials. United States Code: Title 17, Section 1101; Title 18, Sections 2319A, 2319B. New York Penal Law: Articles 275, 420.

Theater Rental

    Accessibility for Those with Special Needs

This state of the art, modern theater is fully accessible for those who have concerns about disabilities. Among the many features of our theater are:
• Both the Phonic FM and the Sennheiser infra-red systems for the hearing impaired
• Monthly open-captioned films for the deaf and hearing impaired
• Many subtitled foreign language films
• Removable seats for wheelchair accomodation
• Reserved seating for wheelchair patrons who call 2 hours in advance: 212-875-5601 after 2 pm, seven days a week
• Elevator from 65th street to the plaza level located directly next to the theater
• Completely wheelchair accessible theater, restrooms and gallery space adjacent to theater

Please Note:
Lincoln Center reserves the right to remove any and all mobility assistive devices (walkers, wheelchairs, etc.) when such devices obstruct a means of egress or ingress causing a violation of the fire safety provisions of the New York City Building Code. Lincoln Center personnel shall make all reasonable efforts to ensure that patrons shall have access to their devices upon request, or during breaks in the performance, and at the performance end.
