Listen to our podcast of their discussion of the films that screened in the first half of the festival:

As the 65th Cannes Film Festival heads into its second half, Film Comment editor Gavin Smith and associate editor Scott Foundas sat down to compare notes on the festival so far.

They discussed at length a few films that have had people talking this week in the south of France.

Michael Haneke’s much buzzed about new movie, Amour, was a topic, as were Christian Mungiu’s Beyond the Hills, Pablo Larrain’s No and Andrew Dominik’s Killing Them Softly. All four of those films will be coming to the United States.

The duo also discussd Ken Loach’s new film Angels’ Share, a hit with the press and industry last night that is still without U.S. distribution. The comedy should line up a U.S. deal based on the positive word of mouth here overnight.
