This week’s podcast features a conversation with the duo behind the Sundance Film Festival hit Swiss Army Man, which comes out this weekend. The wildly inventive and surprisingly touching feature debut from filmmaking team Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (a.k.a. The Daniels) won the directing prize at Sundance back in January. Subscribe to The Close-Up on iTunes so you never miss an episode. If you like what you hear, leave us a review!

Paul Dano stars as a man stranded on a desert island who finds a lifeless yet flatulent body (Daniel Radcliffe) washed up on shore. He miraculously uses the gassy corpse to sail across the ocean to dry land, at which point he becomes lost in the wilderness, dragging along Radcliffe’s lifeless form to help him on his adventure. The Daniels joined us this week for one of our HBO-sponsored Free Talks, in which they discussed their collaborative process, the origins of the unique project, and what’s next for them.
