For some, it was an emotional evening at Lincoln Center last night for the Independent’s Night screening of Joseph Mantegna’s “Norman Mailer: The American.”

Not only were some of the iconic American’s ex-wives in the audience, but so were family members who were quite emotionally affected by the experience of seeing Norman Mailer’s story playing out on the big screen. The movie features interviews with Mailer’s wives, lovers, enemies and admirers.
