Argentinian director Matías Piñeiro’s latest ingenious updating of Shakespeare—his previous films Viola and The Princess of France screened at New Directors 2013 and NYFF 2014, respectivelymarks the first time he has set a feature in New York. Hermia and Helena, which will have its U.S. Premiere in the Main Slate of the 54th New York Film Festival, centers on an Argentinian artist who comes to the city for an artist residency to work on a Spanish translation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
