Joel & Ethan Coen will be at the Film Society of Lincoln Center this Friday night to open the new Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center. The Coens will join Noah Baumbach for “Opening Shots,” a one-time only event that is reserved for Film Society members only.

Every story has to start somewhere, but where—and how—to begin? As the Film Society writes the next chapter in its own history with the opening of the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center, we are pleased to welcome four-time Oscar-winning filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen for a rare, career-spanning discussion of their work—and specifically, their opening scenes—moderated by Oscar-nominated writer-director Noah Baumbach (Greenberg, The Squid and the Whale).

Also on Friday night, Film Society members will be among the first to see an anticipated drama directed by an Oscar-nominated filmmaker. The title of the new film, which will premiere at a major film festival later this year, must remain a secret until the screening begins. We can't tell you what it is, but we can tell you it is sure to be a contender in the 2012 awards season! Reserve your tickets here.

Our Member Open House at the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center is this Friday, June 10th from 3PM – 9PM.

This weekend we're hosting a number of other free events, starting Friday night and continuing through Sunday night, that are open to the public. More tickets for the launch weekend will be available tomorrow at 12:30PM and standby tickets will be available for select events starting 30 minutes before each program.
