Cannes Announces Its Jury
The jury for the 66th Festival de Cannes, which will be presided over by Steven Spielberg, was revealed Wednesday. The eight members are Nicole Kidman, Ang Lee, Indian actress Vidya Balan, Japanese director Naomi Kawase, British writer/director/producer Lynne Ramsay, French actor/director Daniel Auteuil, Romanian writer/director Cristain Mungiu and Austrian actor Christoph Waltz. The jury will judge the films in the Official Competition, awarding the coveted Palme d'Or on May 26.

Gus Van Sant Makes Bid for Fifty Shades of Grey
Hoping to land the director's job for Fifty Shades of Grey, director Gus Van Sant has reportedly shot a steamy sex scene featuring Alex Pettyfer as the billionaire Christian Grey. The two-time Oscar-nominee is eager for the job and shot the test reel on his own initiative in order to prove his muster. Pettyfer isn't attached as the male lead for the film version of the erotic novel, but was cast to shoot the scene by Van Sant, which is allegedly the pivotal moment when the impressionable Anastasia Steele loses her virginity to Grey, The Guardian reports.

Nantucket Film Festival Announces Lineup
The 18th Nantucket Film Festival will be bookended by two favorites from this year's Sundance Film Festival. The fest, which runs June 26-30, will open with Morgan Neville’s documentary about back-up singers Twenty Feet From Stardom and close with David Lowery’s Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, about a Texas outlaw in search of his wife, according to Indiewire. Disney/Pixar’s Monsters University will also screen on the opening day and Lake Bell’s feature debut In A World… will be the centerpiece film. The line-up also features Running From Crazy (Barbara Kopple), Blackfish (Gabriela Cowperthwaite), Girl Most Likely (Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini), Drinking Buddies (Joe Swanberg), Life According to Sam (Sean Fine and Andrea Nix Fine), Touchy Feely (Lynn Shelton), and Our Nixon (Penny Lane).

Zach Braff Takes a Page from Veronica Mars
Following the runaway success of Rob Thomas' crowd-funding for his Veronica Mars movie adaptation, which broke numerous Kickstarter records and brought in a whopping $5.7M, it looks like the site may have more such projects in its future. On Wednesday, writer-director-actor Zach Braff launched a page for his long-awaited directorial follow-up to Garden State. Bearing the title Wish I Was Here, Braff set his fundraising goal for the film at $2M (the same as Thomas'). The project was almost halfway there after less than a day on the site.

Metallica Heads to IMAX
Heavy rock band Metallica will scream at an IMAX near you come fall. The Picturehouse 3-D documentary Metallica Through the Never by filmmaker Nimród Antal will be digitally re-mastered into the immersive IMAX 3D format and released wide in North America exclusively at IMAX theaters for a one-week engagement starting Friday, September 27. The film will expand into additional theaters on October 4.
