Directors Sally Potter, Lee Daniels and Cristian Mungiu

Last year's New York Film Festival saw the introduction of a series of free talks and conversations in the Film Center Amphitheater and the Apple Store, and for the 50th NYFF we're going even bigger!

This year's NYFF Live program includes discussions with filmmakers Lee Daniels (The Paperboy), Cristian Mungiu (Beyond the Hills), Sally Potter (Ginger and Rosa), Roger Michell (Hyde Park on Hudson), and Barry Levinson (The Bay); actors Gael Garcîa Bernal (No) and Greta Gerwig and Mickey Sumner (Frances Ha); industry insiders like Tom Rothman, outgoing Film Society/NYFF Program Director Richard Peña, and critic/author David Thomson (The Big Screen: The Story of the Movies); and panels put together by partners New York Women in Film and Television, WGA East and SAGIndie. The talks will take place in the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center Amphitheater (144 W. 6th Street) and the Apple Store, SoHo (103 Prince Street). See below for full schedule.

As is the case with Friday's press conference with Ang Lee and Yann Martel for NYFF Opening Night film Life of Pi, our partnership with Youtube will allow many of these events to be streamed live on our Youtube Channel.

Film Society's Eugene Hernandez, who organized the program, said in a statement: “As we celebrate our 50th Anniversary we're thrilled to open up the New York Film Festival to a wider audience with free talks at Lincoln Center and live streamed events online during the 17 days of NYFF. Special thanks to our many NYFF Live partners including Hollywood Reporter, Indiewire, NYWIFT, SAGIndie, WGA East and YouTube.”
