We announced earlier this week that the 54th New York Film Festival will feature a Special World Premiere Presentation of Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, the highly anticipated new film by acclaimed director Ang Lee. The film is notable for being the first full-length narrative film shot in 4K, native 3D at the ultra high rate of 120 frames-per-second. Lee’s previous film, Life of Pi, had its world premiere on Opening Night of the 50th New York Film Festival in 2012. Following the premiere, Lee joined selection committee member Todd McCarthy for one of our HBO Directors Dialogues, where he talked at length about his varied and eclectic career.

Howards End, which won three 1992 Academy Awards, is celebrating its 25th anniversary. To celebrate, Cohen Media Group is re-releasing the film in theaters in a beautiful new 4K restoration. On the heels of the restoration’s premiere at Cannes, we welcomed James Ivory to the Film Society for a preview screening, followed by a Q&A with Film Society Editorial Director Michael Koresky.
