Moonlight, Barry Jenkins’s followup to his 2008 low-budget indie Medicine for Melancholy, was one of the hottest tickets at the 54th New York Film Festival. On our podcast this week, we’re sharing a live discussion with Jenkins and his production team in which they offered an in-depth look at the making of the film, which opens theatrically this weekend.

“Making Moonlight” was part of our free NYFF Live series of talks, which is sponsored by HBO. Jenkins joined playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney, whose In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue was the basis for the film, indie producer Adele Romanski, and Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner from Plan B, Brad Pitt’s production company. The evening was moderated by Film Society of Lincoln Center Deputy Director Eugene Hernandez.
