On this week’s episode of our podcast, we’re featuring a conversation that followed our recent sneak preview of Louder Than Bombs, the English-language debut from acclaimed Norwegian filmmaker Joachim Trier. Joachim Trier’s first two features, Reprise and Oslo, August 31st, both screened in New Directors/New Films. Louder Than Bombs is a moving family drama starring Gabriel Byrne, Isabelle Huppert, and Jesse Eisenberg. The director and surprise guest Gabriel Byrne joined us last week for a Q&A prior to the film’s official release last Friday.

You’ll also hear a brief Q&A from a recent screening of the new horror-thriller Green Room, Jeremy Saulnier’s follow-up to 2013’s Blue Ruin. It’s a brutal nail-biter about a punk rock band trapped backstage after witnessing a murder. The film features a disturbing performance from Patrick Stewart as a malevolent skinhead, and also stars Anton Yelchin, Imogen Poots, and Alia Shawkat as members of the down-on-their-luck punk band, The Ain’t Rights.

Louder than Bombs is now playing in select theaters. Green Room opens this Friday.
