For this week’s very special podcast, we dug into our archives to share a conversation between Martin Scorsese and filmmaker-critic (and now New York Film Festival director) Kent Jones about film history. The evening was part of a 2001 series called The Next Generation of Film, which was co-presented with the New York Times. Punctuated by relevant clips, the wide-ranging discussion covered topics like film restoration, visual storytelling, and authenticity in cinema. Scorsese’s latest film Silence, starring Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver, is now playing in theaters.
