Earlier this week we announced the lineup for the fifth edition of NYFF Convergence, our annual sidebar delving into the world of immersive storytelling. So on this week’s edition of our podcast, we’re looking back to one of the program’s highlights from last year.

Every year, Convergence brings together preeminent innovators in the exciting world of interactive storytelling, featuring virtual reality, augmented reality, installations, and more. A highlight from this year’s lineup is a panel called The State of the (Interactive) Art, featuring StoryCode’s Mike Knowlton, interactive theater director Michael Rau, and filmmaker Ram Devineni.

StoryCode is a rapidly growing community of creative professionals exploring interactive narrative, and the group has been involved in Convergence since the program’s inception. At last year’s festival, an event called “Immersive Storytelling Goes Global: A Live StoryCode Dispatch” brought together StoryCode chapter organizers to share happenings and breakthroughs from around the country and the world. The panel will give you a taste of what Convergence is all about in advance of this year’s edition.
