From February 10 – 14, Film Society of Lincoln Center celebrates Raquel Welch’s career with a special retrospective featuring classic roles that catapulted her to stardom and made her a cultural icon of the 60s and 70s.
Easily one of the most recognizable faces of the 1960s, Raquel Welch made her big break with the critically acclaimed sci-fi flick Fantastic Voyage, which will screen February 10 at 1:45pm and February 12 at 12pm. Following Voyage came One Million Years B.C., where Welch’s charismatic presence—along with an iconic poster featuring her posed in a doeskin bikini—cemented her stardom. Fans of Raquel and One Billion Years B.C. should not miss this opportunity to see the film on the big screen, as well as an in person appearance by Welch on Saturday, February 11 at 9:30pm. Other highlights of the retrospective include 100 Rifles, an energectic Western with Jim Brown and Burt Reynolds, and The Wild Party, an homage to Silent Hollywood era films directed by James Ivory.
Raquel Welch will be in attendance for many of the screenings, offering a rare chance to hear about the production of her films straight from the source! She will be taking questions from author, fashion commentator and renowned Barneys window-dresser Simon Doonan preceding the February 10 screening of the controversial cult classic Myra Breckinridge. Legendary talk show host and New York Times pundit Dick Cavett will moderate a Q&A at the February 11 screening of The Three Musketeers, for which Welch won a Golden Globe. Further conversations with Welch will accompany Kansas City Bomber, Hannie Caulder, and The Last of Sheila.
Accompanying the series will be a photo exhibit at the Furman Gallery featuring images from Welch's private collection including professional set photos from Myra Breckinridge, The Three Musketeers and The Wild Party.
