Steven Spielberg Developing Stanley Kubrick's Napoleon as a Miniseries
Spielberg, who collaborated with Kubrick on Artificial Intelligence in 2001, is working with the late director's family on a TV miniseries based on the screenplay that he set aside in the 1970s. Kubrick wrote the script in 1961 but ended his involvement in the 70s because of budget and production issues, THR reports.

Richard Burton Gets Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame
Surprisingly, the late actor did not have a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame until this weekend. In order to have a star on the famous sidewalks in Hollywood, recipients have to first be nominated. It was only last year that Professor Dylan Jones-Evans from Burton's native Wales submitted Burton's name. His star is next to his two-time wife Elizabeth Taylor's star at Hollywood and Ivar, Studio System News reports.

War Witch, Flashpoint Top Canada's Film Awards
Kim Nguyen's Oscar-nominated War Witch swept the film categories at the inaugural Canadian Screen Awards, which merged the previous film centered Genie awards and television Gemini awards into one event. Hosted by Martin Short, War Witch took 9 awards including Best Film, Best director and Best Actress. Also taking home prizes were Xavier Dolan's Laurence Anyways and David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis. Flashpoint won Best Television series, Indiewire reports.

China Launches Script Contest for U.S. Writers
Beijing's municipal government is holding a screenwriting competition for “U.S. based writers of all nationalities.” The “tale of Beijing”-themed contest is seeking aspiring and emerging as well as established writers to submit short and feature-length screenplays about China's capital city and culture. The organization's goal is to “foster artistic collaboration and creative dialogue between China and the U.S.” Proposals for the first round of the feature film competition are due April 7 and short film screenplays are due April 20. Finalists will receive an all-expense paid trip to Beijing in June and are eligible for cash prizes totaling over $100,000. More information is available via their website. Deadline reports.

Cannes Names 15 Projects to Participate in its L'Atelier 2013 Program
The festival's L'Atelier program offers emerging filmmakers access to potential partners attending the Festival de Cannes. The initiative offers its participants access to the expansive film community attending the annual event, taking place this year May 15 – 26. The 9th L'Atelier edition includes projects from 14 countries. Of the 126 projects that have participated in the program over the last eight years, 83 have been completed and 29 are currently in pre-production.
