On this week’s podcast we’re sharing a conversation with German director Maren Ade, whose festival hit Toni Erdmann opens in select theaters this weekend.

Back in October, Ade joined us at the 54th New York Film Festival to screen Toni Erdmann, which has been a critical favorite since its debut at Cannes earlier this year. It also recently topped Film Comment’s list of the best films of 2016 and Brooklyn Magazine called it “one of the most enthralling and moving cinematic engagements of the year.”

At one of our free HBO Directors Dialogues during NYFF, Maren Ade talked in depth about Toni Erdmann and her career in a conversation with Selection Committee Member Amy Taubin.
