The Sound of Music

Bring the family to Film Society of Lincoln Center this holiday weekend for special sing-along presentations of The Sound of Music, the iconic 1965 musical that won five Academy Awards and has become a holiday staple.

Beginning Wednesday (Nov. 23), you can relive all of your Rodgers and Hammerstein favorites surrounded by fellow full-throated enthusiasts. Get your fill of Julie Andrews, adorable Austrian children and “Do-Re-Mi” for just $6 a ticket, with daily shows running through Dec. 1. (There will be no show on Thanksgiving Day.)

Also playing at Film Society this week is our family-friendly engagement of Being Elmo: A Puppeteer's Journey, a touching new film about the first African-American Muppeteer that won the Special Jury Prize for documentaries at Sundance. And don’t forget to check out our $6 Family Films screenings of Wes Anderson’s hilarious adaptation of Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009) on Saturday and Chitty Citty Bang Bang (1968), the cheerful musical fantasy starring Dick Van Dyke, on Sunday.

While you’re at the Film Center, make sure to stop by Indie Food and Wine before or after the show for their “indie lunch box” for Family Film-goers, featuring a NY State cheddar grilled cheese sandwich on multi-grain bread with an apple and house-made hot chocolate, all for only $6!
