Philippe Faucon’s Fatima is the story of single mother from Morocco who is pressured by her neighbors and two teenage children to assimilate into the language and culture of France. In addition to being a favorite at the 2016 edition of Rendez-Vous with French Cinema, this thoughtful and reflective study won Best Film, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Newcomer (Female) at this year’s César Awards, in addition to the prestigious Louis Delluc Prize for Best French Film.

Ahead of its opening at the Film Society this Friday, watch this exclusive clip from the film, providing a preview of how Faucon depicts the struggles and concerns of immigrant life.

Fatima opens August 26 at the Film Society, and tickets are now on sale. Subscribe to our YouTube channel for more videos like this!
