During our recent eight-film retrospective of Arnaud Desplechin’s work, the French filmmaker joined New York Film Festival Director Kent Jones to discuss his latest effort, My Golden Days, following a Sneak Preview screening. The film, which was a Main Slate selection of the 53rd New York Film Festival and won Desplechin Best Director at the 41st César Awards last month, looks back on the life of Paul Dédalus, played as an adult by Desplechin regular Mathieu Amalric, in three coming-of-age episodes. My Golden Days marks Amalric’s second performance as the character, after My Sex Life… or How I Got Into an Argument (1996), which played in the retrospective.

My Golden Days opens today at the Film Society of Lincoln Center with Desplechin in person for Q&As at tonight’s 6:30 screening and Saturday’s 1:30 screening.
