Writer/director Kenneth Lonergan’s third film, Manchester by the Sea, is a poignant drama that explores the long-lasting effects of grief, as well as the relationships that develop in its wake. Sitting down with NYFF Director Kent Jones, Lonergan talks about all aspects of his filmmaking approach–from screenwriting style to working with actors and, lastly, editing of the final product. Lonergan, whose tremendous writing has earned two Oscar nominations thus far, has yet again crafted a masterpiece in Manchester by the Sea.
