In one of the highlights of the 54th New York Film Festival’s NYFF Live free talks, the Writers Guild of America, East brought together three screenwriters for an in-depth discussion. The panel consisted of screenwriters Jean-Christophe Castelli (Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, which made its world premiere at NYFF54), Rebecca Miller (Maggie’s Plan, from the NYFF53 Main Slate), and Mike Mills (20th Century Women, the Centerpiece selection of NYFF54).

The panelists all discussed how they begin to develop their screenplays, where inspiration for character comes from, how they navigate their individual writing routines, and much more. Watch the video above to see them describe their processes.
