Meet Nia Vardalos, who is returning to the big screen to follow up on one of modern cinema’s most cherished marriages. My Big Fat Greek Wedding and its Canadian-born writer and star Vardalos made a huge splash in the indie scene in 2002, with the film going on to become one of the biggest indie box-office successes ever, grossing over $370 million worldwide. Vardalos received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay and a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress (Musical or Comedy), as well as the prize for Best Debut Performance at the Independent Spirit Awards. Vardalos will talk about making the surprise blockbuster’s sequel, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, opening March 25, as well as her film and television work on both sides of the camera.
