Punk rock gives a fresh charge to Jacek Borcuch’s crowd-pleasing feature about the son of a naval officer during the turmoil of Solidarity strikes and crackdowns in 1981. Eighteen-year-old Janek (hot young actor Mateusz Kosciukiewicz) reacts the best way a teen knows how: he starts a band with his friends. Janek finds himself caught between his family’s politics and his own streak of independence, not to mention the usual high-school distractions of getting ahead with girls. A selection of the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, the charming film features a soundtrack of vintage Polish punk from the 1980s. A Sundance 2010 selection!
