Amkoullel is one of the most talented Malian Afro-pop musicians of his generation, creating musical collages from traditional African instruments, jazz, and rock. He has emerged as a socially engaged artist, by articulating powerful messages of unity, democracy and political change in Mali. Amkoullel has performed with musical icons such as Cheikh Tidiane Seck, Alpha Blondy, Lobi Traoré, Salif Keita, Ali Farka Touré, Toumani Diabate, and Tiken Jah Fakoly. He has performed twice at the Nice Jazz Festival alongside Manu Dibango, Keziah Jones, Rokia Traoré. In 2013, he performed at the Brooklyn Academy of Music Mic Check, which brought together musicians from the Middle East and Africa who use music for radical social and political change. In 2014, Amkoullel was featured in the Nomadic Wax Global Hip Hop Series at the One Mic Festival at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.
