Sound + Vision Live explores the connections between music and film through a series of intimate concerts featuring live music and original video work.

Endless Editions is a publishing project, founded in January 2013, whose mission is to produce and disseminate publications by artists working across a broad spectrum of media in limited- or open-edition books, prints, and multiples.

Endless Editions is pleased to announce the expansion of the scope of their project to encompass the production of media publications. Presented here at Sound + Vision Live are performances that correspond to two of the first releases in their Endless Audio series: Jonas Bers and Intra Faction.

Jonas Bers is an electronics artist and devotee of obsolete technology—the kind of person who, as you read this, could be digging through a surplus bin or rewiring some dusty machines in an attic. He is the mad-scientist half of the ambient drone duo hARBOUR, and a featured artist on one of the premier Endless Editions/Endless Audio compilations.

His solo audiovisual performances use a pair of ’90s-era video mixers modified for real-time control by a home-brewed modular synthesizer. Oscillating black-and-white shapes illustrate the indivisible relationship between analog video and sound. Audible frequencies within the video signal are amplified to create a stark and droning synesthetic score, allowing electricity to be simultaneously seen and heard. In this case, image and sound do not correspond to each other—they are one in the same.

Intra Faction is a collective of three Brooklyn-based artists, Nick Demo, Hil Dar, and Kristin Mercy, who make music and art separately, across disciplines ranging from visual and performance art to robotics and computer music. They come together to build music-based total art experiences using primitive materials, electronics, homemade MIDI instruments, bodies, light, projection, and interactive technology. Intra Faction’s collaborations are intended to create visceral and intuitive experiences, and have taken the forms of standard musical sets at clubs, long-form warehouse installations, and secret performances in the subterranean filter cells of Washington, DC. They also produce visual art, writing, and video, which is available as a collection in Endless Editions multi-platform publication, IF by Intra Faction.

For this installment of Sound + Vision Live, Intra Faction is joined by guest video artist Permian Strata, to bring their music, their videos and their bodies together in a sensory love song to the cosmos, and an invocation for transformation, revolution and rebirth. In their convergence of sound, ritual, visuals and music, Intra Faction will use a number of homemade MIDI-controllers, commercial synths, water and metal; they’ll sing; and they’ll surround spectators in a cradle of images and sounds, darkness and light, desire and presence.
