An all-star musical revue, this lavish production approximates what Broadway’s Florenz Ziegfeld might have mounted, had he the limitless funds and performer resources of MGM circa 1944. Fred Astaire is featured in four numbers, one of which teams him with Gene Kelly. Also on the roster: William Powell, Fanny Brice, Lena Horne, Lucille Ball, Kathryn Grayson, Red Skelton, Esther Williams, Keenan Wynn, William Frawley, and Cyd Charisse.

Foreshadowing rap, no less, Judy offers stylized patter, song, and dance, in a routine originally crafted by Roger Edens and Kay Thompson for (and rejected by) Greer Garson.
