General Questions:

What are Film Society members and patrons?
Membership begins at $75 ($35 for students) and offers the lowest price on tickets and early access to most of the Film Society’s festivals and series. To learn more about becoming a member, click here.

Patron support begins at $1,000 and offers great benefits such as preview screenings, receptions and concierge ticketing. To learn more about becoming a patron, click here.

What is New Wave?
In addition to Film Icon benefits and Patron benefits, New Wave offers donors in their 20s and 30s extra invitations to private screenings and events with opportunities to engage with up-and-coming filmmakers, emerging artists and other young film lovers.

Special events throughout the year include; A Night of Food and Film, preview screenings and panels, happy hours, and private parties during New Directors/New Films and the New York Film Festival. To join New Wave, click here.

Who is eligible for New Wave benefits?
Donors must be under 40 and have a current Film Icon membership, Film Icon Dual membership, or Patronage at any level.

How do I join as a member or renew my support of the Film Society?

I lost my membership card. How do I get a new one?
To request a replacement card, email members@filmlinc.org or call (212) 875-5620. To take advantage of your benefits without your membership card, either log in to our website with your email address, or present your name or membership number at the box office.

Is there a senior membership or family membership?
There is not currently a senior membership or family membership. Seniors and students may purchase tickets at the special price of $11 per ticket.

I would like to purchase a gift membership. How do I do that?
You can purchase a gift membership online, in-person, over the phone or by mail. Simply provide the contact information for the giftee along with your own and we will handle the rest. Be sure to let us know if you would like us to send the gift to you or send directly to the giftee by writing in the notes section.

Member Benefit Questions:

What are the benefits of a Film Society Membership?
Benefits range from discounts on Film Society screenings to exclusive invitations to special events. Learn more about specific benefits for the Member and Patron programs.

For which screenings may I use my complimentary tickets?
Complimentary tickets may be redeemed for regularly priced programming, such as retrospectives, series and certain festivals. Complimentary tickets may not be redeemed for specially priced programming, such as new releases and certain festivals. Follow the asterisks in the chart here to see which festivals are eligible for complimentary ticket redemption. 

How do I redeem my complimentary tickets and concessions?
Film Buff members and above must present their tracking card and membership card at the box office or concessions stand to redeem their complimentary tickets and concessions. This benefit may be used at both the Walter Reade Theater and the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center.

Patrons may contact the Patron Desk to redeem their complimentary tickets and present their Patron Card at the concessions stand for their complimentary concessions. This benefit may be used at both the Walter Reade Theater and the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center.

Complimentary tickets are subject to availability.

What is the member discount ticket price?
Tickets are $9 for regularly-priced screenings at the Walter Reade Theater and the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center (compared with $11 for students/senior and $14 for the general public). Members receive discount tickets prices to most special events and the New York Film Festival.

How many tickets can I purchase with my membership?
For a single membership account, two tickets per screening may be purchased at the member price, with unlimited additional tickets at the general public price.  For a dual membership account, four tickets per screening may be purchased at the member price, with unlimited additional tickets at the general public price.  Please note: During any early access period, only member-priced tickets may be purchased. There is a two ticket limit for all members and patrons during the New York Film Festival and other select events.

How do I take advantage of our early access period for festivals?
As a Member or Patron, you will receive an email alerting you to the early access period for tickets. You must log in on our website with the email address associated with your membership to purchase tickets during the early access period. Please refer to the Member benefits for which early access periods you are eligible. All tickets are subject to availability.

I have not received the bi-monthly calendar or the latest issue of Film Comment. What should I do?
Copies of the bi-monthly calendar are located in the lobbies of all our theaters. Be sure to visit our website for the most up-to-date information on all screenings. If you have not yet received the latest issue of Film Comment magazine, email members@filmlinc.org.

I want to renew online, but it looks like I am joining.
If you are no longer a current member, but you have had a membership in the past, our office will recognize your information and record your membership as a renewal on the previous account.  If you are a current member, please log in with the email address associated with your membership account before you purchase another year of membership.  The online system will recognize your information and record your membership as a renewal on the previous account.  If you have any questions about renewing, please contact the Member Desk or the Patron Desk.

How do I purchase tickets?
Tickets can be purchased online at filmlinc.org or at our box offices. Click here for more information.

Your new ticketing system is asking me to register / create a login, why?
A login is now required for online ticket purchases. Members and Patrons* of the Film Society will receive access to exclusive benefits, including member-priced tickets and early access periods, only after logging in.

*Current Film Society Members and Patrons have existing accounts and may login using their email address on file. If you are a member or patron of the Film Society and need to reset your log-in information, you may do so by selecting “Forgot Your Password” and submitting your email address. If you have trouble changing your password online, please contact the Member or Patron Desk.
