			Jia Zhangke Jia Zhangke has established himself as one of the world’s most provocative film directors since his first major feature, Xiao Wu, screened in New Directors/New Films 1999. His work, which frequently examines the dark consequences of a rapidly modernizing China, has become an enormous influence on the newest generation of Chinese filmmakers. Jia will join L.A. Weekly film critic and festival selection committee member Scott Foundas to talk about his influences at home and abroad and the changing face of his native country, fresh off hosting its first Olympic Games. 			Wong Kar-wai A visionary director whose cult following has few equals in the contemporary film world, Wong Kar-wai returns to the New York Film Festival with his re-worked and re-imagined version of Ashes of Time.
