Stars on the Jetway
On view March 3-13
Marlene Dietrich, Sean Connery, Catherine Deneuve, Marcello Mastroianni, and Elizabeth Taylor are just a few of the iconic actors and actresses featured in Stars on the Jetway, an exhibition of photographs produced by Air France. The series showcases black-and-white photos of French and international stars as they step out of Air France planes onto the runway during the 1950s and ’60s, a time when civil aviation was developing.
*Venue: The Frieda and Roy Furman Gallery in the Walter Reade Theater, 165 West 65th Street. Free and open to the public.

EDUCATION SCREENINGS

The 2016 edition of Rendez-Vous with French Cinema will also feature educational collaborations with New York City high schools and middle schools. Over the course of three days, March 7-9 at 10am, director Rudi Rosenberg will present his latest film The New Kid to 800 students from across the five boroughs. A U.S. premiere, Rosenberg’s delectable debut feature is a vivacious coming-of-age portrait. When shy 14-year-old Benoît moves to Paris and a new high school, he’s rejected by his cooler classmates and reluctantly sidelined into a precarious friendship with the “freaks and geeks.” Prior to the screenings, participating teachers will receive an educational kit that includes an in-depth exploration of bullying behaviors and tools for building empathy between students, as well as a cinema appreciation lesson plan to integrate into their curriculum. For more information on the screening, contact[email protected].

Special thanks to our Premiere sponsors Lacoste & Renault-Nissan.

Tickets for Rendez-Vous with French Cinema go on sale Thursday, February 18, with early access for Film Society members beginning today, Thursday, February 11. Tickets are $16; $12 for seniors (62+); and $10 for students and members; higher pricing for opening night will apply.
