Riccarrdo Milani’s sensitive portrait of Flores, based on the novel Il disco del mondo by Walter Veltroni, traces the musician's life from his boyhood in Africa to his years playing with such jazz greats as Chet Baker and Dave Holland. Along the way, Luca (Kim Rossi Stuart) develops his prodigious talent at music school and discovers jazz, while his loved ones watch helplessly as Luca retreats further and further into his own personal darkness. Stuart is sensational as Luca, capturing the essential enigma that defined this great artist and that helps keep him a cult figure in Italy years after his death.
