Jean-Pierre Melville (Le
Cercle rouge, Le Samourai) crafts a stylish and
sexy tale of a career criminal who plans an intricate,
almost impossible job involving a casino. This memorable
film was unreleased in the U.S. until 1982 and later
re-made as Neil Jordan’s The
Good Thief.
