With its 38th Annual Chaplin Award, the Film Society of Lincoln Center is proud to honor the life and career of Sidney Poitier. An actor with starring roles in some of the most important films of the last sixty years, he has made an indelible impact on the history of American film. His contribution to cinema makes up just a portion of his legacy, with notable off-screen roles including that of diplomat, philanthropist, and humanitarian. His groundbreaking body of work on both sides of the camera continues to delight, inspire, and entertain. 

The 2011 Chaplin Award Gala will take place Monday, May 2nd at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center.
