Alberto Lattuada's Mafioso (1962)

For 15 years, Rialto Pictures has been restoring and distributing classic films for new generations to enjoy. To celebrate this milestone, Film Society and Rialto are teaming up to show 15 wonderful films from their catalogue of masterpieces, begining tonight with the dark comedy Mafioso (1962). The restored 35mm print of this Alberto Lattuada classic makes the film look as beautiful as it did upon its original release 50 years ago.

The rest of the series, which runs through March 29, comprises matinee showings of some of cinema's greatest treasures that Rialto has helped to dig up and make shiny and new again. Discount tickets start at $7 for Film Society Members and our unbeatable package lets you see three films for only $15! Even the General Public tickets are cheap at just $10 each.

At these prices, you'll definitely want to call in sick and come see a number of the fantastic films on display, including Jean-Luc Godard's debut feature Breathless (1960) on a restored 35mm print commissioned for the film's anniversary in 2010. There's also the classic heist film Rififi (1955), Federico Fellini's Oscar-winning Nights of Cabiria (1957), Luis Buñuel's Diary of a Chambermaid (1964), and the film that earned Mel Brooks an Oscar, The Producers (1968).

All 15 films in this series have been restored and cleaned up, and you may clean up too! If you buy your tickets online, you will automatically be entered to win one of 15 great prizes, including a 10-disc Special Edition Rialto Pictures box set from the Criterion Collection! The set features six films included in our series such as Army of Shadows (1969), Billy Liar (1963), The Third Man (1949), and Touchez pas au grisbi (1954).
