49 Years. 36 Countries. 17 days. 1 singular event.

The trailer for the 49th New York Film Festival, created by Kinetic Trailers in New York City, features images from a number of films screening at the 2011 Festival. The music for the trailer is by Alexandre Desplat from the original score for Roman Polanski’s Carnage, the opening night film at this year's festival.

Carnage is the second NYFF opening night movie for which Desplat has composed music. He also created the original score for Stephen Frears’ “The Queen,” which opened the festival back in 2006.

Alexandre Desplat is an acclaimed composer who has won many awards for his work. He created original music for numerous feature films and he’s been nominated for multiple Academy Awards. His credits this year alone, in addition to Roman Polanski’s Carnage, include George Clooney’s upcoming Ides of March as well as David Yates’ Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, Part 2, and Terrence Malick’s The Tree of Life. Among his other credits are Tom Hooper’s The King’s Speech, Roman Polanski’s The Ghost Writer, Wes Anderson’s The Fantastic Mr. Fox, Jacques Audiard’s A Prophet, David Fincher’s The Case of Benjamin Button, Ang Lee’s Lust, Caution, Stephen Gaghan’s Syriana, Jacques Audiard’s The Beat That My Heart Skipped and Peter Webber's Girl With The Pearl Earring.
