James Gandolfini and Julia Louis Dreyfus in Nicole Holofcener's Enough Said
After an exciting summer featuring talents such as Richard Linklater, Sofia Coppola, Lee Daniels, Sebastian Silva, Brian De Palma, and Nicholas Winding Refn (among others), the Film Society of Lincoln Center bids farewell to the season with a final installment in our free Summer Talks series.
Filmmaker Nicole Holofcener will join NYFF Director of Programming Kent Jones on September 17 to discuss her latest film, Enough Said, about Eva, a divorced parent (Julia Louis Dreyfus) who dreads her daughter’s departure for college. James Gandolfini stars in his final role as Albert, whose sense of humor and good heartedness attract Eva. This story about divorcees “starting over” is sharp, insightful, and funny. Come to this final Summer Talk of 2013 to watch clips from the movie and hear Holofcener discuss the film.
Another great event just announced is The New York Film Festival at 50, a panel discussion with some of the key figures who have been instrumental in making NYFF a touchstone of cinema in the USA. Moderated by Steve Apkon, the panel includes Joanne Koch (Executive Director of Film Society from 1971-2003), Richard Peña (Film Society and NYFF Program Director from 1988-2012), and Kent Jones (current NYFF Program Director). Each panel member has contributed to the book New York Film Festival Gold: A 50th Anniversary Celebration. A limited amount of books have been autographed by Richard Peña and director Pedro Almodóvar, and will be available for purchase. The panel will take place on Wednesday, September 11 at the Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville, New York.
