A “Filmmaker in Residence” is coming to the Film Society of Lincoln Center in a new initiative unveiled Wednesday. The program, set to launch this year, is a collaboration with Swiss luxury watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre under a multi-year partnership.
Each year, the Filmmaker in Residence will have the chance to focus on “developing or refining new work in New York City.” The emerging or established artist will have the opportunity to take part in master classes, mentorships, cultural exchanges and enrichment film programs with Film Society of Lincoln Center members and the broader film community, as well as the public.
Beginning this June, a panel of “notable filmmakers and screenwriters” will oversee the selection process of the first Filmmaker in Residence. The initiative will formally launch in New York this September.

In related news, the partnership also extends to the upcoming 40th Anniversary Chaplin Award Gala, which will honor Barbra Streisand on April 22, in addition to the 51st New York Film Festival, which will take place September 27 – October 13.
