Filmmaker Mati Diop received one of this year’s Lincoln Center Emerging Artist Awards on Wednesday, March 2. Diop’s most recent directorial effort, A Thousand Suns, screened as part of the first edition of Art of the Real in 2014. She has also acted in films such as Claire Denis’s 35 Shots of Rum and Benjamin Crotty’s Fort Buchanan.

Awards were presented to artists put forward by all of Lincoln Center’s resident organizations, including two Martin E. Segal Award winners, in addition to the newly established Hunt Family Award. Each of the award winners received $7,500 to be used for career advancement and to support future study. The evening, which was made possible by the generous support of lead sponsor First Republic Bank, celebrated excellence in all performing arts genres, and featured a special live performance and dinner honoring the winners.
