Kevin Clash—better known as the man behind Elmo—and director Constance Marks will be on hand as we roll out our engagement of Sundance champ Being Elmo: A Puppeteer's Journey at the Film Center this weekend.

Narrated by Whoopi Goldberg, the film traces Clash's early days as an aspirant Muppeteer and chronicles the rise of the Jim Henson empire along the way. Being Elmo's irresistable tale of obsession and triumph clinched the Special Jury Prize for Documentary at Sundance and went on to become a favorite at South by Southwest. It opens as Sesame Street fetes its 42nd season.

The critical response has been no less glowing. After its Sundance premiere, The Hollywood Reporter said the movie is “a rare documentary that will connect across generations and cultures to delight viewers worldwide for years to come.” “(Clash) was the first African-American to work as a Muppeteer,” Owen Gliberman noted in Entertainment Weekly, “and Being Elmo shows you why that mattered: By taking the world's Muppet love, through Elmo, to new heights, he became the fulfillment of Jim Henson's soft-cloth version of a rainbow coalition.”

Clash will be in person for a Q&A following the 6:10pm screening on Saturday. Director Constance Marks will appear for Q&As following the 2:30pm screenings on Saturday and Sunday. For tickets and more info head here.
