The final week of the New York Film Festival has begun, and today NYFF will be represented from W65th Street down to Soho. Day 11 features a plethora of cinematic goodies including rush tickets for Official Selection screenings (Real, Alan Patridge) and in-person actor and directors talks and Q&As. We also sadly bid adieu to our 17th annual Views from the Avant-Garde program, but luckily not before going out with a bang: Brakhage, Dorsky, Ophuls, Stahl!

If you happened to catch the U.S. Premiere of Catherine Breillat’s new film, Abuse of Weakness, last night (screening again on Wednesday), and feel inclined to ask the film’s star, Isabelle Huppert, some thought-provoking questions, then come on down to our Amphitheater at 7pm! As part of our free NYFF Live talks, the actress will speak with NYFF Director of Programming Kent Jones tonight about her emotionally challenging, intensely physical performance mirrored after a tragic experience suffered by Breillat in 2004.

If you’ve been keeping tabs on the documentaries featured throughout our festival, then the ultimate culmination of these works takes place tonight in NYFF Live. Directors Allison Berg and Frank Keraudren (The Dog), Nancy Buirski (Afternoon of a Faun: Tanaquil le Clercq) and Jehane Noujaim (The Square) will sit down with Emmy-winning producer Laurens Grant to discuss their filmmaking process and what inspired them to tackle their latest works.

If you find yourself anticipating the much buzzed about 12 Years A Slave (and happen to be downtown tonight), then head to the Apple Store in Soho to hear director Steve McQueen discuss his upcoming film at 5:00pm. A NYFF mainstay (Hunger, Shame), McQueen’s discussion is one you definitely don’t want to miss.

When it comes to our Main Slate screenings today, featured filmmakers will also be present to speak about their work. Director Sebastian Lélio and star Paulina García will be in person for a Q&A after the 6:00pm screening of Gloria (Chile’s official 2013 Foreign Film Oscar entry), while French fashion designer/cineaste agnès b. will be on hand after the 8:15pm premiere of her new film, My name is hmmm… And for fans of broad comedy, director Declan Lowney will take questions after a screening of the Steve Coogan-starrer Alan Patridge at 9:00pm.
