The 48th edition of New Directors/New Films, which introduces New York audiences to the work of emerging filmmakers from around the world, runs through April 7th. This year’s Opening Night selection was Chinonye Chukwu’s Clemency, winner of the Grand Jury Prize in the U.S. Dramatic Competition at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. The film is an enthralling drama anchored by a powerhouse performance from the great Alfre Woodard as a prison warden struggling with the morality of capital punishment after years of working on death row.

Chukwu, stars Aldis Hodge and Alex Castillo, and cinematographer Eric Branco joined us at Opening Night. Check out a photo gallery above and watch their Q&A here.
