It’s been an eventful spring here at the Film Society, most recently with the Marcello Mastroianni retrospective underway, and Open Roads: New Italian Cinema about to begin. Between series, there were several screenings and events, exclusively for members and patrons, and our photographers were there to capture the best moments.

To celebrate the Oscars on February 28, patrons were invited to an awards party, where they enjoyed the broadcast live on the big screen! The night included appetizers, a buffet dinner, and dessert, as well as a photo booth with props.

On March 27, Netflix came out for an exclusive premiere of Five Came Back, a three-part documentary about five prominent filmmakers who made significant contributions to the portrayal of World War II on film. Two of the directors who appeared on the series, Steven Spielberg and Guillermo del Toro, were on-hand for the premiere. Following the screening, news anchor and journalist Tom Brokaw moderated a panel with the show’s writer and director, and several filmmakers who appeared onscreen.

Early in April, we held a patron evening, featuring a screening of Gifted, with Chris Evans. The film’s other stars, Octavia Spencer and newcomer McKenna Grace, joined Evans on stage to introduce the film. Guests later enjoyed drinks and hors d’oeuvres at a post-screening reception.

Also in April, we hosted a screening of the finale of Ryan Murphy’s Feud. Stars Susan Sarandon, Jessica Lange, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and others were in attendance, and participated in a post-screening Q&A about the television series.
