The Film Society’s Free Talks, sponsored by HBO, kicked off for the summer with Brian De Palma, Noah Baumbach, and Jake Paltrow discussing their new documentary and NYFF53 selection De Palma, a lively portrait chronicling the career of the visionary, uncompromising filmmaker.

The series was then followed by “The Daniels” (Kwan and Scheinert) discussing Swiss Army Man, their standout from this year’s Sundance Film Festival, where it quickly became known as “the one where Daniel Radcliffe plays a farting corpse,” and Nicolas Winding Refn on his latest film, The Neon Demon, starring Elle Fanning, Jena Malone, and Keanu Reeves.
