On this week’s episode of our podcast, we’re sharing a conversation with writer-director Kenneth Lonergan, whose highly anticipated new film, Manchester by the Sea, comes out this weekend.
The film, starring Casey Affleck, Michelle Williams, Kyle Chandler, and Lucas Hedges, screened in the 54th New York Film Festival last month. During the festival, Lonergan joined NYFF Director Kent Jones for one of our HBO Directors Dialogues. In a wide-ranging discussion, Lonergan talked about his approach to writing dialogue, his background in theater, and his work’s tendency to blend dry comedy with dark drama.
