The 54th New York Film Festival continues through October 16 with some of the best cinema, new and old, from around the world. On this week’s episode of our podcast, you’ll hear a couple of highlights from the festival so far. First, Kristen Stewart discusses her career in a conversation with festival director Kent Jones. After that, we’ll go to our NYFF Live talk with the director and star of Aquarius, which opens in select theaters this weekend.

Kristen Stewart stars in three films at this year’s festival: Kelly Reichardt’s Certain Women, Olivier Assayas’s Personal Shopper, and Ang Lee’s Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk. She spoke with Kent Jones at “An Evening with Kristen Stewart,” an intimate tribute benefitting the Film Society of Lincoln Center. Certain Women begins its theatrical run this weekend.

Aquarius, Kleber Mendonça Filho’s follow-up to his acclaimed Neighboring Sounds, was a favorite at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. It centers on a 65-year-old widow’s struggle to keep her apartment from an opportunistic real estate promoter who has bought up all the other units in the building. Legendary Brazilian actress Sônia Braga joined the film’s director to discuss the film in one of our daily NYFF Live talks, which are sponsored by HBO.
