The Film Society’s annual Chaplin Gala fundraiser, this year celebrating its 40th anniversary with a tribute to Barbra Streisand, will include a host of bold faced names saluting the award-winning multi-hyphenate. The first heavy hitter to sign on to honor Streisand is none other than the 42nd President of the United States, Bill Clinton!

Clinton will present the Chaplin Award to Barbra Streisand during a ceremony that will include film clips, speeches, interviews and more. The gala will take place at Lincoln Center on Monday, April 22, 2013.

The first American woman artist to receive credit as writer, director, producer and star of a major feature film (Yentl), Barbra Streisand joins an esteemed roster of past recipients. The gala launched with a tribute to Charlie Chaplin on his return to the U.S. in 1972. Honorees have included Alfred Hitchcock, Billy Wilder, Laurence Olivier, Federico Fellini, Elizabeth Taylor, Bette Davis, James Stewart, Robert Altman, Martin Scorsese, Diane Keaton, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Michael Douglas, Sidney Poitier, and last year Catherine Deneuve.
