Gods of the Plague

German maverick Rainer Werner Fassbinder left an indelible mark on film history with his bold aesthetic style, his view from the margins, and his prolific output—nearly 40 feature films in under 15 years. We'll be celebrating his body of work with a two-part retrospective, the largest in New York City in over a decade.

The retrospective includes all of Fassbinder's theatrical films, several movies made for television, and even some Fassbinder-influenced works by other directors. Part 1 runs May 16 – June 1 and covers 1969-1974, while Part 2 is set for November. Check out the trailer below:

We know some of you will want to see a lot of films, so we've got several ways to save. Choose between a 3+ Film Package or one of two All Access Pass options: $99 for Part 1, $125 for Parts 1 + 2, subject to availability.

There are even more ways to celebrate New German Cinema's enfant terrible. Film Comment's Digital Anthology contains 35 years of analysis of Fassbinder's films and profiles of his closest collaborators. You can also fashionably express your Fassbinder fandom with our exclusive tote bag and T-shirt, designed by Nathan Gelgud.
