The Film Society's venerable New Directors/New Films festival, co-presented with the Museum of Modern Art, celebrates its 42nd birthday from March 20-31 next spring. There will be a few new faces on the selection committee this year: FSLC's new director of year-round programming Robert Koehler and MoMA associate curator Joshua Siegel.

“I have long admired and respected the vision and film knowledge of both Bob and Josh, so it's a great pleasure to welcome them to the New Directors selection committee” said FSLC exectuve director Rose Kuo in a press release today. “They join the stellar team of Raj [Roy], Jytte [Jensen], Marian [Masone] and Gavin [Smith] to bring exciting new voices in cinema to New York audiences.”

If you'd like to be one of those exciting new voices, now's the time to submit! We're accepting films from now until January 9, 2013, with no fees required. We do ask that submissions meet the following guidelines:

  • Entries must be New York premieres and must have been completed in 2012 or 2013. Films shown in other festivals or public screenings in New York are not eligible for consideration. (The Committee reserves the right to waive this rule in the case of small non-commercial, non-publicized showings.)
  • Work can be submitted on DVD, HDCam, Digibeta or streaming video. DVD submissions will not be returned.
  • Works of all lengths will be considered. There are no separate categories for feature length and short films.
  • Films in any language other than English must be subtitled in English.
