On this week’s podcast, we’re sharing two highlights from the 22nd Rendez-Vous with French Cinema series, co-presented with UniFrance. First up is our special evening with pioneering filmmaker and artist Agnès Varda; after that you’ll hear our Q&A with director Julia Ducournau and actress Garance Marillier following the New York premiere of the film Raw.

In conjunction with this year’s festival, French Insitute Alliance Française celebrated the career of Agnès Varda with screenings and exhibitions paying tribute to her perpetually influential and inventive work across many disciplines. Varda stopped by the Film Society for a special talk in our amphitheater, moderated by critic Melissa Anderson.

Julia Ducournau’s shocking Raw has been described as a “coming-of-age cannibalism film.” It was the one of the most buzzed-about films at last year’s Cannes, and this weekend it will finally hit theaters. Our screening during Rendez-Vous was presented by Film Comment magazine, and featured Ducournau and lead actress Garance Marillier in person for a Q&A.
