In addition to over 20 premieres in the Main Slate, the 25th New York Jewish Film Festival featured free events like filmmaker master classes and panel discussions, including this one on the subject of film curation. Jens Hoffmann from the Jewish Museum moderated a far-reaching discussion with Dennis Lim, Director of Programming here at the Film Society; Thomas Beard, director of Light Industry in Brooklyn and Film Society Programmer at Large; Stuart Comer, Chief Curator of Media and Performance Art at The Museum of Modern Art; and Chrissie Iles from the Whitney Museum of American Art. The esteemed group talked about the challenges of programming film and video work in the modern era and the differences between curating for a museum setting and film festivals.
