On this week’s podcast, we’re sharing the audio from our special presentation of Gimme Shelter, the legendary documentary from 1970 directed by Albert & David Maysles and Charlotte Zwerin.
On the occasion of the publication of his new book, Just a Shot Away: Peace, Love, and Tragedy with the Rolling Stones at Altamont, writer and critic Saul Austerlitz joined the Film Society to present a double bill of Gimme Shelter and Sam Green’s Lot 63, Grave C (2006). Following the screening, Austerlitz led a panel with Gimme Shelter cinematographer Joan Churchill, producer Porter Bibb, editor Mirra Bank, and Judy Maysles.
